License Requirements:

To obtain a Certified Solar Contractor License, you'll need to meet the following criteria:

• Age: Must Be at least 18 years old.
• Exams: Must pass the Solar and Business and Finance exams administered by the DBPR.
• Background Check: Undergo a criminal background history check.
• Insurance: Have adequate insurance coverage.
• Experience/Education:  You must meet one of the following requirements -some text
  • A four-year construction-related degree from an accredited college (equivalent to three years' experience) and one year of proven experience applicable to the category for which you are applying.
  • One year experience as a foreman and not less than three years of credits from accredited college-level courses.
  • Combinations of work experience (as a worker or supervisor) and relevant college credits can also qualify.

Additional Considerations:

NABCEP Certification: While not mandated by the state, obtaining a NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification demonstrates your expertise and can be valuable.

Local Permits: A separate electrical permit from your local jurisdiction is usually required for solar installations.
